Our Philosophy

"As a first step towards fulfilling the vision of the Government and the leadership of the country, Bharti has kick-started it's voluntary and affirmative action in making significant contribution to provide education to the weaker sections of the society, so as to make them employable. We need to ensure that our children and young people have access to quality education. Through Bharti Foundation we are determined to make a substantial impact in this area."

"As a responsible corporate citizen, we have decided to substantially scale up our existing programs in the area of education, in order to support the aspirations of under-privileged in the country."

Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal,

Vice Chairman

Bharti Foundation

At Bharti Enterprises, there is absolute belief in quality education being the most important tool for social and economic development in India. Thus, Bharti Foundation was set up in 2000 as the philanthropic wing of the Bharti Group of Companies to bridge the existing education divide and make quality education accessible to all underprivileged children across rural India. The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential.

All educational programs initiated by Bharti Foundation involve close partnerships with the government, policy makers, local communities and the general public. These education programs aim to make to a difference in the lives of thousands of underprivileged children and youth, allowing them to become employable citizens of the future and contribute to the economic growth of the community.

Bharti Foundation implements education programs in primary and higher education to help both holistic and academic development of underprivileged children and youth across the rural pockets of India. The primary school program is designed to teach students to explore, question, reason and communicate effectively. This helps them connect with their own community and stay rooted to their local culture. The senior school program will train students in vocational skills to help them emerge as employable citizens and contribute to community development.

In recent years the Foundation has also initiated ‘Satya Bharti Abhiyan’, to improve sanitation facilities in rural Ludhiana and ‘Nyaya Bharti’ to provide legal and financial assistance to deserving underprivileged undertrials languishing in jails across the country for minor offences.

‘Satya Bharti Abhiyan’

On 18th August 2014, Bharti Foundation launched the Satya Bharti Abhiyan, an initiative to improve sanitation facilities with rural Ludhiana as a focus area. The Foundation has committed an investment of up to INR 100 Crores to be utilized over the next three years for the construction of individual toilets across more than 900 villages, in households lacking such facilities. In addition, these funds have also been invested in improving sanitation facilities in the Government schools of rural Ludhiana by building toilets for girls, where no such amenities exist. The program on the targeted scale will benefit over 1,00,000 individuals.

‘Nyaya Bharti’

Nyaya Bharti was launched in November 2015 to help deserving and underprivileged undertrials languishing in jails across the country for minor offences by assisting them with legal and financial assistance and also promoting awareness about every individual’s constitutional right to legal defense. It is a first of its kind national level corporate initiative in the country in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Vision of ‘Sabka Nyaya’ – Access to Justice for all. Its Board consists of eminent persons led by Justice A.S. Anand (Retired Chief Justice of India) to provide oversight and guidance to the initiative and a panel of young public spirited lawyers shall provide pro-bono service towards the initiative.

How our Mobile towers are reducing carbon footprint

Mobile towers are the lifeline of any cellular network. A smooth network depends on uninterrupted and adequate supply of power. In many parts of India, power supply is erratic. Most towers have a diesel generator backup. The telecom industry, with nearly 6,00,000 towers, is the largest consumer of diesel today.

Bharti Infratel, one of India’s top tower companies, has taken a pioneering step towards replacing diesel generators with solar energy, reducing Co2 emissions by 2.5 tonnes per tower every year.
