Sunil Bharti Mittal awarded Honorary Doctorate by University of Leeds (UK)

New Delhi, July 16, 2009: Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman & Group CEO, Bharti Enterprises has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa by the University of Leeds, UK. The University of Leeds awards honorary degrees to people distinguished by their contributions to business, arts, government or public life in general. The other recipients of honorary degrees for the year include Dr Nicola Brewer, Bekele Geleta, Simon Mason, Michael Nyman, Lord Oxburgh and Dr Peter Robinson. Past Honorary Graduates from the University include prominent names such as Jack Straw (Labour MP), and JRR Tolkien (Writer).

On the occasion Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal said, “I am delighted with this honour from such a globally reputed institution and would like to extend my sincere thanks to them. The recognition reflects India's growing reputation in the international fora. I sincerely believe this will go a long way towards inspiring India's young generation to pursue their goals with passion and commitment."
