Bharti Retail announces the appointment of Raj Jain as CEO

New Delhi, January 3, 2014: Bharti Retail (“the Company”) today announced the appointment of Raj Jain as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. In his new role, Raj Jain will report to Rajan Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman & MD, Bharti Enterprises. The Company also announced the appointment of Pankaj Madan as Chief Financial Officer.

Raj brings with him vast experience across retail, consumer durables and FMCG sectors. Prior to his current appointment, he was Advisor to Bharti Enterprises. Before this, he was President, Walmart India and also held the position of Managing Director & CEO, Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd for over six years.

Earlier, Raj was the Asia Pacific Region Head, Marketing & Supply Chain at Whirlpool Corporation in Shanghai and had also served as Managing Director & CEO of Whirlpool of India Ltd. He began his career with Unilever, where he held key managerial positions in Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain in India the U.K. Raj holds an Engineering Degree from Delhi University and did his Executive MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Business.

Pankaj Madan brings with him vast experience in Finance. He recently held the position of CFO at Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd, where he worked for over five years. Prior to that Pankaj was CFO, Grampian Country Food Group (Thailand). He has also worked with Cargill Thailand and Telstra Singapore in senior finance roles. Pankaj is Chartered Accountant, LLB and MBA from Deakin University Australia

Bharti Retail currently operates 212 stores in neighbourhood and compact hypermarket formats.
